The MOTOTRBO driver must be finalized once for the MOTOTRBO portable and once for the MOTOTRBO mobile/repeater to enable communications with the radio via the USB port on Microsoft® Windows® XP Home/Professional Operating System and Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional Operating System.
Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium/Professional Operating System, Microsoft® Windows® Vista Home Premium/Business Operating System, or Microsoft® Windows® Server 2008 R2 Operating System 1. Exit all the MOTOTRBO programs running on your computer. 2. Connect the programming cable to the radio, and then connect the programming cable to the USB port on your computer. Turn on the radio. 3. The “Set Network Location” window (as shown below) may appear automatically. If the window does not appear, no further action is necessary. 1. If the window appears, click on the option that you prefer. Any of the choices (Home, Work, or Public location) will work with the radio. 2. Once the “Successfully set network settings” message appears, click Close.
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home/Professional Operating System or Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 Operating System 3. Exit all the MOTOTRBO programs running on your computer. 4. Connect the programming cable to the radio, and then connect the programming cable to the USB port on your computer. Turn on the radio. 5. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” window appears automatically. 6. Select “No, not this time”, as shown below. Click Next. 7. Select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)”, as shown below. Click Next. 8. Please wait while your computer searches, and installs the driver. 9. The
following screen appears if your computer cannot find the driver. Click Browse
to manually locate the driver. The default path for the driver is C:\ProgramFiles\Common
Files\Motorola\MOTOTRBO Driver. Once you have located the driver, click OK. 10. Please wait while your computer installs the driver. 11. Once the installation is complete, click Finish. 12. Proceed to “Setting Up the MOTOTRBO Local Area Connection On Your Computer”.
Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional Operating System 1. Exit all the MOTOTRBO programs running on your computer. 2. Connect the programming cable to the radio, and then connect the programming cable to the USB port on your computer. Turn on the radio. 3. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” window below appears automatically. Click Next to continue to the next window. 4. Select “Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)”, as shown below. Click Next. 5. The following window appears. Check the checkbox for “CD-ROM drives” and “Specify a location”. Click Next. 6. The window below appears when a driver is found. Click Next to install the driver. 7. The following screen appears if your computer cannot find the driver. Click Browse to manually locate the driver. The default path for the driver is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Motorola\MOTOTRBO Driver. Once you have located the driver, click OK. 8. Please wait while your computer installs the driver. 9. Once the installation is complete, click Finish. 10. Proceed to “Setting Up the MOTOTRBO Local Area Connection On Your Computer”.
Setting Up the MOTOTRBO Local Area Connection On Your Computer with Microsoft® Windows® XP Home/Professional Operating System and Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional Operating System 1. Click Start =>Settings, or Start => Control Panel, and right click Network Connection to select Open. 2. Select View => Details in the menu. 3. Double-click on the Network Connection named “Local Area Connection” which has the Device Name “MOTOTRBO Radio”. Note: You might have more than one Local Area Connection active on your machine. Please ensure that you have selected the right one. 4. Click on Properties. 5. Uncheck all the checkboxes EXCEPT for “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”. Select “Show icon in notification area when connected” and “Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity”. Note: The “Notify me
when this connection has limited or no connectivity” option
may not be available on all machines. 6. Click OK. You have now completed the setup for the MOTOTRBO Local Area Connection.
Verifying IP address assigned to the specific local area connection with the MOTOTRBO radio 1. Open a command prompt by selecting Start>Run 2. Enter cmd in the “Open:” command field and click OK 3. Type ipconfig /all at the C:\> prompt and press Enter 4. A successful USB-based network connection with the MOTOTRBO radio will be indicated by an assigned IP address (ex: 192.168.1.2)
Updating the MOTOTRBO RNDIS driver to the latest installed from the previously installed MOTOTRBO RNDIS driver 1. Click Start =>Settings=>Control Panel=>System to open System Properties 2. Click on Device Manager from Hardware tab 3. Expand Network adapters tree node to get the list of the network adapters 4. Right click MOTOTRBO Radio # and select Update Driver… to update to the latest installed RNDIS driver
